Tactical Medicine for Everyday Carry course teaches students how to identify and treat life-threatening injuries related to violent attacks. The students will be exposed to various every day carry methods for medical equipment. This is a classroom based course with minimal lecture, plenty of hands-on skills practice, and training scenarios for students to apply what they have learned.

No equipment is needed for this course and there are no prerequisites. Students must wear long pants and sturdy footwear such as running shoes or hiking boots; no open-toed footwear or sandals allowed. All medical training aids will be provided. Bring your own med kit or gear to have evaluated by the instructor. This course is designed for the layperson with little or no formal medical training, healthcare professionals are welcome and will learn as well.

– Principles of tactical medicine
– Patient drags and carries
– Principles of tactical medicine
– Patient drags and carry methods
– Rapid patient assessment
– Hemorrhage control techniques; tourniquets, hemostatic agents, pressure dressings
– How to identify and treat penetrating thoracic trauma; sucking chest wounds, etc.
– Identify and treat for shock
– Medical equipment selection for everyday carry
– EDC carry methods for medical gear

 

 Instructor – Caleb Causey, Owner of Lone Star Medics 

Caleb started his career riding out with Medstar ambulance services in Fort Worth Texas; as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s Explorer program at the age of 16. After high school he joined the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. Caleb deployed to various locations in the Balkans; where he has worked as a line medic with the 82nd Airborne and in the ER of the 212 MASH. He especially enjoyed his duty as an OPFOR Medic while stationed in Louisiana. After serving his country, Caleb joined the City of Benbrook’s Fire Department and served there as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT.

Over the next several years Caleb was involved with the department’s rescue dive team and worked as the Tactical Medic with local area SWAT team. Caleb also has worked with multiple Private Military/Security Companies. Caleb completed Paramedic school in College Station, Texas. This is where he attained his American Heart Association’s BLS Instructor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications, Heartsaver Instructor, and Emergency Medical Services Instructor for the state of Texas. Caleb has proven to have a true passion for teaching medicine to people of all walks of life. Most of his classes are full of knowledge, experience, and laughter.
