STUDY: credit JT for vid link. Columbus Ohio, robber shoots clerk, 6/25/16 at 9pm, black male entered the Brew House drive-thru pointed a handgun at clerk & demanded money from the cash register. Clerk complied & gave money to suspect. Suspect then shot clerk for no apparent reason. Considerations: 1) Compliance does not mean you will come away in one piece or alive. This guy shot clerk in leg. He could have just as easily shot him in the face. While compliance is not recommended for exactly the reason seen in this vid, you are putting your well being in the hands of someone who is actively committing a CRIME, temporary compliance MAY be necessary until you can create an opportunity to act. You need to know when that opportunity is present and/or how to create that opportunity. This is a difficult situation for sure. 2) Extreme close quarters, arms length. Criminals weapon is already out= extreme initiative deficit (credit @southnarc for that terminology) 3) Note criminals demeanor, his movements are deliberate and practiced. He controls distance with support side arm, keeps handgun in retention-type position, tight to the body, in order to prevent victim from trying to grab at it. 4) Note how criminal checks his hard corner (to his left) at the 0:05 mark AND note at 0:24 how he checks his exit route prior to going. 5) Why shoot the clerk in what is widely considered a non-vital area? Doesn't want to be pursued, doesn't want clerk to see or be able to ID associates in car out front or on side walk covering the exit/entrance. 6) Leg shot- clerk attempts to hobble after criminal thinking pursuit. While limb shots may generally be non-lethal there are major arteries in the leg that can cause enough massive hemorrhage and blood loss to cause death. The crime is done, you have been shot, your window of opportunity to act is gone, self-care and comms UNLESS there is someone you are responsible for in other room or area the criminal is traversing to exit. 7) How many of you go to store at 9pm? #MDTS#studytrainpracticetest @llindenman @pfc_training @immediateactioncombatives @aprillriskconsulting @steelmind01 @cm_actual @c4c_operator @eaglelement @heybminus @d_jano
