MDTS Concealed Carry Principles

STUDY: ATTEMPTED PURSE SNATCH

STUDY: Attempted purse snatch and assault. Considerations: 1) This is a tough one. Being "aware" and being paranoid of every person that is around us, especially out in places like this CVS, is no way to live 2) Things happen fast and aggressive and can turn violent when the criminal doesn't get what they want. This guy wanted a quick snatch and run, he got a 100lb human weight attached to a string 3) Would letting go of the purse and letting him have it in this circumstance been more prudent? Maybe avoid the assault part? Personal decision. She certainly didn't put up much of a fight. 4) For those who carry weapons would access and deployment have been possible here? 5) For ladies or men who carry off-body in a bag or purse how would access and deployment have gone AND how would you feel if the guy got away with not only your valuables but your gun? 6) Finally, would having some ground oriented physical defense skills like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have helped her if she was familiar with being on the ground, orienting her opponent to 12 O'clock and kicking, using her legs as a barrier between herself and attacker? We can "what if" this all day long but I'd bet that would have looked different. 7) Stand up physical defense may or may not have helped her in this incident due to the size and weight differential combined with the attackers momentum she was on the ground before any stand up skill could be utilized. Consider adding some ground skills into your defensive profile if you already train in a stand up art or system. #studytrainpracticetest #MDTS #training #bjj @mikekaram_mma @deez_nuts1 @crossfitmohawkvalley @jenjay22 @matt_hajdasz @savsmt
