MDTS Concealed Carry Principles

LOWLIGHT: Klarus XT1C

LOWLIGHT: Another handheld option for #EDC. The #klarus #XT1C is a small, easily carried, single CR123 battery, 280 lumen max output, multi-output light costing ~$48 shipped from Amazon. I've been running larger 580 lumen #XT2C klarus as a nightstand light for about a year now after @shivworks_and_alumni Craig Douglas showed it to me so I purchased the XT1C for EDC. Anyone who's been to our #practicalpistollowlightskills class knows I dislike dual or multi-output handhelds due to the effort it takes to utilize a light like that correctly while manipulating a handgun, shooting, making decisions and performing other tasks. It seems you never have the output setting you want when performing under minimal stress. Its my opinion that multi-output lights simply add more stress to the situation unless the light itself can be locked into one specific output mode. The Klarus lights address this issue by having separate output silent clicky tailcap actuation buttons (switches), one tall, one shorter (see pic). The tall button emits a max 280 lumen beam when momentarily tapped while the shorter "mode" button emits a strobing beam when tapped or a medium output 65 lumen beam or 7 lumen low beam when the light is clicked fully into the "on" position. This makes navigating through the various output settings easy with the tall button essentially being single output. Bottom left pic size comparison next to another excellent small handheld the @streamlightinc #ProTac1L. Bottom right pic is a beam comparison during the day in my garage, lights off, but with ambient light from outside of the 180 lumen ProTac1L on left and 280 lumen klarus XT1C on right. Both lights can be found on Amazon.com for under $50 shipped. #MDTS #lights #illuminationtools #torch #concealedcarry #lowlight #streamlight #training
