MDTS Concealed Carry Principles

GUNS: RED DOT PISTOL SIGHTS 2

GUNS: I've been wanting to try out a red dot on one of my pistols for awhile now. Several friends, other trainers and a few students in my classes have been utilizing them for some time however for me it was cost prohibitive. The idea of it costing more $$ to have a slide milled, purchase a red dot and back up sights than the gun, holster and spare mags cost did not seem practical for me or for most of the people who attend #MDTS classes. I've only had this setup a few days but I'm impressed with the @dueckdefense #RBU mount and @burriscompany fastfire3 red dot combo. A couple of us put ~ 60 rounds through this setup yesterday after Practical Pistol Skills 1 class in Deerfield, NY. Started at 10 yards on an NRA bullseye getting used to the back up irons on the #DueckDefense mount. The shorter sight radius looks like it would be problematic but was a non issue and quite accurate at 10 with any shooting errors being me. Then I dialed in a rough zero on the #fastfire3 and within 20 or so rounds was back at 15+ yards consistently printing in a 2-3 inch circle at a moderate to fast shot cadence for that distance. Did not have the opportunity to get back to 25 but will ASAP. For now, I'm pretty happy with this setup. A lot of getting used to the red dot is working on presentation from holster and extension to target training myself to pick up the dot during that sequence. Cool thing about the Dueck mount is that I simply align the irons and the dot is there or that's what I did at first but now I'm picking up the dot quicker so not really paying attention to the irons. Total cost of mount and Burris fastfire3 was $365 shipped with zero alteration to my @glockinc G19 other than replacing the rear sight with the Dueck RBU mount. If you are interested in trying out a red dot on your pistol check out this combo for an affordable, easy to install, effective and so far robust setup. I'll be posting more about it as I get more run time. Now if Dueck would make one for my @smithwessoncorp M&P! @benchmadeknifecompany #pardue531 #eidolon @bladerigs
