MDTS Concealed Carry Principles

CONSISTENCY & RESPONSIBILITY WITH FIREARMS

CONSISTENCY & RESPONSIBILITY- consistency – "the steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc." When learning and developing a physical skill, consistency is king. Knowledge, skill and safety with firearms is learned and developed over time. Some of us have "grown up" with guns having been taught by family from a young age. Some of us haven't. Some of this familial education may have been excellent and some, maybe not so much. Safety with firearms and consistent, safe gun-handling, needs to be understood and ingrained. Firearm ownership, training and carry should never be considered a "hobby" or "game" you go play on weekends at the range. Owning, training with and especially carrying a firearm such a handgun is a great responsibility. One which, if you are going to endeavor to pursue, needs to be taken seriously. Consistent gun-handling, demonstrating the respect that firearm is due, on and off the range is the sign of a professional. It's the sign of someone who understands this responsibility. It's the sign of someone who you want to shoot with, train with or work with. There's a lot of training available out there today. But remember the number one lesson to learn is adherence to the (4) rules of firearm safety and consistent adherence and execution of those rules: 1) Treat ALL guns as if they are loaded at ALL times 2) NEVER let the muzzle cover anything you aren't willing to KILL, destroy or purchase 3) Keep your trigger finger in a consistent index point off the trigger until the sights are on target and a CONSCIOUS DECISION to shoot has been made 4) KNOW the target, what is behind it and what is all around it prior to shooting. There's a lot of new gun owners out there with more joining us every day. Before talking to them about shooting on the move or shooting under a vehicle help them learn and consider: 1) the responsibility of gun ownership 2) the manual of arms of their firearms 3) the development of consistent, safe gun-handling skills, first. #MDTS #training #practicalpistolskills #practicalconcealedcarryskills #fourrules #consistency #responsibility #pistol #olrgc
